TRIVIED is a project designed to enhance student interaction at the IED Florence by transforming underutilized spaces into interactive hubs through playful trivia game installations. The name TRIVIED is a fusion of “trivia” and “IED,” representing the union of knowledge, learning, and the spirit of the IED community. Based on sociological research, including surveys and interviews with both international and Italian students, the project identifies areas such as the courtyard, vending machine zones, and corridors as ideal spots for fostering social connection. By introducing engaging trivia games, TRIVIED aims to create a more vibrant and dynamic campus, helping students connect across disciplines, reduce stress, and build a stronger sense of community through lighthearted competition.

The design centers around a spacious bar and dining area where functionality meets style. A warm, earthy color palette, dominated by terracotta and natural wood tones, sets the stage for a cozy yet modern atmosphere. The focal point is a curved red-brick bar counter that anchors the space, evoking a sense of rustic Italian charm. Above the bar, custom lighting fixtures with blown-glass pendants provide a soft, inviting glow, enhancing the overall ambiance.

The vending machine area fosters collaboration with team-based trivia games, turning a casual setting into a hub for social interaction and shared knowledge. Nearby, the one-on-one game in the corridor offers quick, friendly duels, encouraging spontaneous connections and playful competition. Together, these setups create dynamic opportunities for students to engage and bond.

Each week, topics are projected on the ceiling, and participants must pay attention to these projections in order to answer the questions correctly. This format encourages unity and playful competition, fostering a sense of community as students connect and engage with each other in an open, relaxed setting..
