WES ANDERSON'S BATHROOM

This project explores the intersection of interior design and filmmaking by reimagining a bathroom through the lens of Wes Anderson’s iconic cinematic style. Drawing inspiration from his symmetrical compositions, vibrant color palette, and whimsical details, the bathroom design incorporates elements from his filmography to create an immersive space. The project also challenges these signature elements, questioning what happens to the design when Anderson’s well-known style is altered. Through three distinct renders of the same bathroom, the project explores how color and symmetry—two of Anderson’s most celebrated design traits—would influence the space if removed or adjusted.

Symmetry dominates the design, with fixtures and elements arranged to create balance and harmony throughout the space. The bathroom is filled with a vibrant color palette, featuring soft pastels like mint green, peach, and mustard yellow, complemented by bold contrasting accents. Fixtures such as the vintage-inspired light fittings and unique patterned tiles are strategically placed to create a playful, whimsical atmosphere, while maintaining a sense of meticulous order and functionality.

THE BATHROOM

By opting for a black-and-white color scheme, the bathroom moves away from the vibrant and playful hues often associated with Wes Anderson’s style. The soft grays, beiges, and muted blues create a more minimalist, subdued atmosphere, shifting the space from the bold energy typically seen in his films.

B&W COLOR PALETTE

The absence of symmetry introduces a dynamic, unpredictable flow, with elements arranged off-center. This choice contrasts with Anderson’s signature balanced compositions, prompting the question of whether it’s the color palette and symmetry that define his style, or if his visual language extends beyond these elements.
